Matua Rāwiri Wharemate
Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Porou, Tainui, Ngāti Pūkenga
Kua tū te manawa o te Whāraurau o Werry Workforce,
Ko to tātou matua David Rāwiri Wharemate.
He māngai mo ngā mokopuna, pīkau take mo te iwi.
Noho mokemoke tonu to whānau, a tātou katoa.
Haere atu rā e hoa, ki Pōhutukawa whetū i te rangi ko Puanga.
Hei kōnei mātou ngā waka, ngā whare mo ngā uri heke tonu atu.
E kore e wareware e te Rangatira, moe mai rā.
We remember Rāwiri for always sharing his knowledge and aroha generously with everyone. He was a great leader, guide, mentor and friend to many. He provided expert cultural advice on matters of tikanga and protocol and imbued every occasion with a sense of significance, through his presence and whaikōrero. Our loving thoughts are with the Wharemate whānau and his many mokopuna at this sad time.
Rawiri was our kaumātua since 2003 with his extensive experience in the Child and Youth Mental Health field. Under the guidance of Matua Rāwiri, the Whāraurau Team was able to ensure all projects embraced principles and values of the Tiriti ō Waitangi and Whānau Ora, to maintain strong alignment with Māori Models of Care.
