This interesting study from Portugal tries to answer the question "Do fathers make a difference to the management of young children with oppositional behaviour?" Obvious as the answer might seem, few trials of the Incredible Years program have addressed this issue. The study showed that over 6 months following attendance at an Incredible Years programme (versus wait list), there were significant effects on fathers’ attendance upon their positive parenting practices and their ratings of children’s prosocial behaviors. In addition, there was a reduction of the impact of symptoms on family functioning. All round, this sounds like a good thing.
